What does kitesurfing insurance cover?

Kitesurfing travel insurance is designed for riders heading abroad for a kitesurfing holiday, training camp, guided course or one-off experience.

Our complete travel policy combines specialist kitesurfing cover with essential protection for the whole of your trip.

You’ll find specific sport cover including kitesurfing equipment, search and rescue and kitesurf activity fees, for sessions and competitions. Cover can also include emergency medical treatment and repatriation, trip cancellation and curtailment, baggage, personal accident and more.

Alternatively, our kitesurfing travel bolt-on can extend an existing policy to cover the activity for a single day, short break or longer trip. It can also be added after your journey has started.

Our policies provide three different types of cover: Sports travel insurance, Sports accident, and Activity Top-Up. Please ensure you select the most suitable cover for your activity, when you get a quote and always review your policy documents.

Sports equipment is excluded under our bolt‑on cover.

How much does kitesurfing insurance cost?

Your kitesurfing insurance premium will vary depending on the plan you selec, Bronze, Silver or Gold, with different benefit limits available across each option.

The price will also reflect your age, destination and the length of your trip.

For kitesurfers, equipment can be an important consideration. If you want additional protection for higher-value kit such as your kite, board, harness or other gear, increasing your equipment cover can raise the overall premium.

Review our kitesurfing insurance pricing example and get a quote tailored to your trip.

Why you need kitesurfing travel insurance

Wind, water and weather create added risks

Kitesurfing accidents may require emergency medical treatment or repatriation, leading to significant costs overseas.

Specialist gear needs specialist protection

Kites, boards, harnesses and other essential gear may not be covered by standard travel insurance if lost, stolen or damaged.

Disruption can affect your whole trip

Illness, injury, cancellations or travel delays could mean missing pre-paid lessons, coaching camps or planned kitesurfing experiences.

Hear from our experts

“Kitesurfing trips often depend on the right wind, suitable conditions and having your essential equipment arrive safely. An injury, damaged kite or disrupted journey can quickly affect both your time on the water and the wider trip.

Choosing suitable equipment, riding within your ability and following local weather and safety guidance can help reduce the risks. Even with careful planning, sudden changes in conditions, accidents and travel disruption can still happen.

Our kitesurfing travel insurance is designed around the demands of the sport, with cover for emergency medical treatment and repatriation, trip cancellation, travel disruption, kitesurfing equipment, search and rescue costs and other unexpected expenses.

We’ve supported kitesurfers and water sports travellers for more than 30 years, so you can focus on the wind, the water and your next session knowing experienced help is available when you need it.”
