What activities are covered under your adventure travel insurance policy?
Our policy covers over 500 different activities across various sports groups. Each activity is categorised based on risk level and specific coverage requirements:
Low Risk: Our basic adventure sports travel insurance encompasses our range of lower-risk activities such as hiking and cycling. These activities are covered under our standard policy coverage without requiring any additional premium. This makes it ideal for casual adventurers and those enjoying everyday outdoor pursuits.
Moderate Risk: We can also cover moderate risk activities including climbing and scuba diving. While these activities are readily insurable, they may come with specific conditions for coverage. For example, you might need to be under qualified instruction or adhere to certain safety parameters such as depth limits for diving or altitude restrictions for climbing. These conditions are in place to ensure your safety while still allowing you to fully enjoy your chosen activities.
High-Risk: We may charge an additional premium higher-risk activities such as skydiving and white-water rafting. Due to the increased risk level, these activities require additional premiums and often need specific safety certifications before coverage can be provided.
Special conditions and restrictions will be detailed in your policy documents, and it’s essential to review these carefully to ensure you meet all requirements for coverage. These groups are perfect for serious adventure enthusiasts who want to push their limits while maintaining comprehensive insurance protection.
What can impact the cost of my adventure travel insurance?
Several key factors influence your premium cost.
Age: Those under 16 receive reduced premiums but with modified benefits, while travellers aged 17-65 pay standard premium rates with full benefits. For those over 66, premiums are adjusted and come with specific benefit limitations reflecting the increased risk for this age group.
Activity Risk: Group 1 activities are typically included in the base premium with the highest premiums applying to Groups 5-7 activities, reflecting their increased risk level and potential for claims.
Trip duration: Single trip policies are priced based on your exact travel dates, while annual multi-trip policies consider the maximum duration of any one trip within the year. Extended stay options are available with premiums adjusted accordingly.
Destination: Zone 0 covers UK-only travel, Zone 1 extends to European coverage, Zone 2 provides worldwide coverage excluding the USA and Canada, while Zone 3 offers comprehensive worldwide coverage including these North American destinations.
Additional factors that can influence your premium include any pre-existing medical conditions you need to be covered for, the level of cover you select, plus any optional add-ons you choose to include. Each of these elements can either increase or decrease your final premium cost depending on the specific details of your situation.
