2. Travel Insurance Bolt-On
If you have a travel insurance policy with another provider, such as your bank or buildings society, but it does not include cover for ski touring, we can provide a bolt-on style of protection.
3. Sports Accident Insurance

How is our Ski Touring Insurance different?
Most standard travel insurance policies will exclude cover for ski touring, especially when competitions and overnight stays are involved, making a specialist policy necessary. So, if you have an accident on the slopes and are not covered, you could be left to pick up the bill.
At SportsCover Direct we can cover you for a variety of ski touring activities including Alpine and Nordic. If you are planning to take part in a competition which involves overnight stay in a cabin, that would be covered too.
Our Sports Travel Insurance comes with benefits such as 24 hour emergency medical assistance, search and rescue, cancellation and more. If you need to be evacuated from the mountainside or repatriated back home, this will be also covered under our policy.
Why do you need Ski Touring Insurance
Alpine ski touring, like other mountain sports, is a risky activity, which according to our risk grade system sits amongst the highest – Sport Group 7.
Being a form of skiing that is done off-piste, you don’t have the security provided by the ski resorts. You can get lost on the mountain or have an accident in an area where there is no phone or assistance services.
Therefore, taking out insurance before you head to the slopes is crucial.

Yes, our Alpine Ski Touring policy includes cover for competitions, with a limit of 60 days of Winter Sports cover in any single trip or annual policy.
Our Sports Travel Insurance policy provides up to £5,600 worth of equipment cover. This add-on not only protects your own equipment, but also any gear you hire during your trip. It also covers your ski touring equipment in transit to and from your destination.
Yes, our Ski Touring Travel Insurance can generally be taken out even if you have a medical condition. We can almost always offer cover at no extra cost, but occasionally our underwriters may apply special terms if you subsequently needed to make a claim relating to your condition.
You can purchase our Ski Touring Travel Insurance online up until 74 years old. Above this age you would need to call us on 01494 484800 and we will be able to refer your quote to our underwriters. Please note, our quotes are based on your age at the start date of cover.
