What does snowboarding insurance cover?
Designed for snowboarders on winter trips ranging from a week of resort riding to terrain parks, freeriding and backcountry routes, snowboarding travel insurance lets you choose cover based on the type of riding you have planned.
Our full snowboarding travel policy can protect the wider trip, with cover for emergency medical treatment and repatriation, cancellation and curtailment, baggage, personal accident, personal liability and other unexpected travel problems.
Snowboarding-specific benefits can include cover for your board and equipment, lift passes and activity fees, search and rescue, piste closure, lack of snow and selected off-piste or backcountry riding.
For riders who already have travel insurance, a snowboarding bolt-on can add cover for a shorter period, including after the trip has started.
When arranging your policy, include all the snowboarding activities and disciplines you expect to take part in, for full protection.
Our policies provide three different types of cover: Sports travel insurance, Sports accident, and Activity Top-Up. Please ensure you select the most suitable cover for your activity, when you get a quote and always review your policy documents.
Sports equipment is excluded under our bolt‑on cover.
Only a summary of the policy’s coverage is presented on this page. Please refer to policy documents for full details of what is and what is not covered, when you get a quote.
How much does snowboarding insurance cost?
From a week on the slopes to a more adventurous snowboarding trip, your premium will reflect where you’re heading, how long you’re away and the level of protection you choose.
Your age and destination will also affect the price, along with the value of your snowboard, boots and other equipment if you choose additional equipment cover.
Mountain rescue and trip cancellation can be expensive, more so in some destinations, so the cover limits you select (bronze, silver or gold) are an important part of your policy.

Why you need snowboarding travel insurance
Injuries can come with significant costs
A fall or collision may result in overseas medical bills, mountain rescue and time away from the slopes.
Boards and specialist kit are expensive
Cover can protect your snowboard and other equipment for replacement if they are stolen or damaged.
Mountain conditions can change quickly
Bad weather, piste closures, avalanches and travel delays may affect lift passes, lessons and pre-booked activities.
Our experts explain why…
“Snowboarding holidays are built around adventure, but a fall, sudden weather change or cancelled journey can quickly disrupt your plans.
Choosing the right equipment, riding within your ability and following advice from local teams all help you stay safer on the mountain. Even so, accidents can happen and overseas medical treatment or mountain rescue can be expensive.
Our snowboarding travel insurance can help with emergency medical expenses, search and rescue, cancellations, delays and other unexpected costs, giving you valuable support both on and off the slopes.”
