What does cycling travel insurance cover?
Our cycling travel insurance can help protect your trip, your health, and the bike and equipment you rely on, with cover designed for overseas training, racing, sportives and social cycling holidays.
This full cycling travel policy combines essential travel cover, including emergency medical treatment and repatriation, cycling trip cancellation and curtailment, with specialist cycling cover.
You’ll find cycling-specific protection for bikes & sports equipment (if they’re damaged or stolen) with extended equipment cover available for higher-value bikes. There’s also cover for cycling activity fees (such as competition entry), personal accident, search and rescue, and more.
Alternatively, if cycling activities are excluded from your current travel policy, add extra cover for the days you ride, from a one-off sportive to an advanced mountain biking holiday.
Our policies provide three different types of cover: Sports travel insurance, Sports accident, and Activity Top-Up. Please ensure you select the most suitable cover for your activity, when you get a quote and always review your policy documents.
Sports equipment is excluded under our bolt‑on cover.
Only a summary of the policy’s coverage is presented on this page. Please refer to policy documents for full details of what is and what is not covered, when you get a quote.
How much does cycle travel insurance cost?
Your cycling premium is shaped by several key factors: age, your destination and the length and frequency of your trip.
It also depends on your cycling discipline and its risk level, the cover limits you choose for medical, trip cancellation and sports equipment, and the value of your bike and kit including any add‑ons.

Why do you need Cycling Travel Insurance?
Unexpected incidents can derail your trip
A crash or illness can lead to costly medical bills abroad.
Your bike and kit need protection
Standard travel insurance may not cover valuable cycling equipment.
Delays can disrupt your plans
Cancellations can impact all your trip costs.
Our experts explain why…
“Cycling holidays can involve risks that standard travel insurance may not always cover, particularly when you’re taking part in specialist disciplines or travelling with valuable equipment.
Whether you’re road cycling, mountain biking, bikepacking or joining an organised event, careful route planning, suitable safety gear and a well-maintained bike can all help reduce the risks. Even so, accidents, theft, damage and travel disruption can still affect your trip.
Our cycling travel insurance can help cover emergency medical treatment, cancellations, delays, lost or damaged cycling equipment and other unexpected expenses, helping protect both your plans and the bike and kit you rely on.
We’ve supported cyclists and active travellers for more than 30 years, so you can focus on the route ahead knowing experienced help is there when you need it.”
