  • Exceeding an altitude of 7000m when trekking.

We cannot cover for technical ascents under our Trekking Travel Insurance. Should you plan on using equipment such as ice axes, crampons etc, then you will need to purchase our Mountaineering Insurance. Use of equipment can only be covered for trekking if it is for emergencies only.

For any restrictions you will need to take the advice of local authorities. If they have advised against taking a specific route, for example, you may invalidate your cover for this activity if you ignore this advice.

No, our high altitude hiking insurance covers up to 7000m. Everest Base Camp is 5,364m, while Kilimanjaro’s peak is 5,895m, so if you’re travelling to these, you’ll be covered as part of our policy.

You would need to contact our emergency assistance providers (International Medical Group) who would make arrangements on your behalf.
