What does shooting insurance cost?

Shooting insurance costs can vary depending on the protection you choose. Your premium may be affected by the level of Public Liability cover, the value of your guns and equipment, and any optional extras you add, such as Personal Accident, Gun Dog Fees or worldwide cover.

The value comes from having specialist protection designed around how shooting actually takes place. Whether you shoot recreationally, attend organised events or competitions, or travel with valuable equipment, the right cover can help with the financial impact of accidental damage, theft, liability claims or injury.

It can provide practical protection for both your participation and the equipment you rely on.

Why do you need shooting insurance?

The equipment you rely on is damaged

Accidents can leave valuable guns or equipment needing repair or replacement.

Your personal protection on a shoot

Time away from work or long recovery periods from injury are circumstances worth protecting yourself against.

Your responsibilities on a shoot

Even in controlled environments, accidents can happen and you could be held responsible for injury or damage.

Our experts explain why…

“It is worth checking that your insurance covers your shooting activities effectively, as standard policies can contain important exclusions.

Specialist shooting insurance is about more than protecting equipment. It can help cover legal costs if an accident causes injury or property damage, provide financial support if you’re seriously injured while shooting, and help with vet fees if your gun dog is injured in the field.

Whether you’re involved in training or a regular shoot, travelling abroad for competitions or guided days, dedicated cover gives you confidence that you’re protected against the risks that come with the sport.”
