What does Golf Insurance cover?
Our Golf Insurance can protect you while playing, practising or competing in the UK and worldwide.
Designed specifically for golfers, the policy can cover your clubs and equipment, personal liability, personal accident and traditional hole-in-one expenses.
Our golf insurance supports regular players, competitive golfers and those travelling with valuable equipment. Cover can apply during practice sessions, social rounds, competitions and professional coaching.
An extensive golf policy including new-for-old equipment cover, personal liability, personal accident and hole-in-one cover. Your golf equipment can also be protected 24 hours a day, even when you are not on the course.
Choose from UK or worldwide cover depending on where you play and travel.
Please note that this is a dedicated golf equipment and liability policy. It does not include the emergency medical, cancellation or repatriation benefits provided by a standard travel insurance policy; you might find our golf travel insurance more suitable.
Only a summary of the policy’s coverage is presented on this page. Please refer to policy documents for full details of what is and what is not covered, when you get a quote.
How much does golf insurance cost?
Golf insurance can cost far less than replacing stolen or damaged clubs or dealing with an unexpected liability or personal accident claim.
The price will depend on the level of cover you choose the replacement value of your equipment and whether you need protection in the UK or worldwide.
With flexible cover options available, you can choose a policy that suits your equipment, where you play and your budget.

Why do you need golf insurance?
A golf game doesn’t always go to plan
Unexpected things can happen; a shot may go astray, causing damage or injury.
A special golf club is damaged
Accidental mishaps can leave valuable equipment needing repair or replacement.
A hole-in-one tradition
That memorable moment could leave you picking up the tab for fellow golfers.
Our experts explain why…
“Many golfers are surprised to learn how often claims arise from simple accidents – a dropped bag, a cracked club, or a shot that strikes someone unexpectedly.
Specialist golf insurance isn’t just about protecting equipment: it safeguards you financially against the types of incidents that standard policies often exclude.
For the cost of just a few pounds a month, you protect your clubs, yourself, and your liability every time you step onto the course.
At SportsCover Direct we make it simple for golfers to choose the best policy for them for the best price and can provide support in the event of a claim”

FAQs
Yes. Competitive play is fully covered across all our policy tiers, protecting you from the first tee to the prize presentation. The policy applies to practice rounds, casual games, and official club tournaments. If you choose our Gold or Platinum plans, you also have up to £250 in cover for non-refundable tournament fees if an injury forces you to withdraw, alongside traditional Hole-In-One celebration cover.
Your equipment is fully covered if stolen from a securely locked car while you are at the golf club, provided they are completely locked out of sight in a boot or under a secure parcel shelf. However, to prevent opportunistic theft, coverage is not provided if the equipment is left unattended overnight, or if it is stolen from an unattended vehicle after you have left the golf club premises.
Yes. Buggy use is covered as part of your standard golfing activities under the policy, protecting your responsibilities, third-party property damage limits, and liability while operating a golf buggy on the course.
Yes. If you choose our Gold or Platinum plans, your policy territory coverage transitions to worldwide, protecting your equipment and liability while playing abroad. Please note that this policy explicitly covers your equipment, liability, and golf-specific risks; it does not contain travel medical, flight cancellation, or holiday disruption benefits, which require a separate travel insurance policy.
Yes. The maximum equipment payout depends entirely on the tier you select: Bronze caps at £2,000, Silver at £3,000, Gold at £5,000, and our premium Platinum tier covers custom iron sets, bags, and trolley setups up to £7,500.
This is the single most critical financial risk on a golf course. If you slice a ball and cause a serious head injury or smash a vehicle window in the club car park, you can be held personally liable for the damages. Our Bronze and Silver plans provide up to £5,000,000 in Personal Liability, while our Gold and Platinum tiers scale up to an industry-leading £10,000,000 in Personal Liability cover to handle your legal defence and compensation payouts.
