Whilst foreign travel is off the cards for UK holidaymakers until lockdown measures are eased, these courses can be on your list to visit once that happens.
Third nine by IMG opens at Hilltop Valley in Vietnam
If you are looking for a 27-hole golf course with breath-taking scenery, then you should try the Hillitop Valley Golf club designed by IMG. Surrounded by a mountain ridge, a valley and the Da River, it is offering an exceptional challenge to players with its dramatic changes in altitude. The golf course is only 60 kilometers from Hanoi and the first 18-holes opened for play in 2019. Work on holes 19-27 started in 2018 with construction completed in October 2020.
New Stirling & Martin-designed course opens in Costa del Sol
Azata Golf is a new 18-hole golf course designed by Sterling and Martin Golf Course Architects and is located in Spain’s Costa del Sol. It has spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea and the Sierra Bermeja. Azata Golf is the first new full-length layout on Spain’s Costa del Sol to open in the past decade. The greens are generous with various flag positions, making them ideal for all types of players.
Pacific Coast Design opens at Haldi Golf County in India
Promising to become the most premium golfing destination in India, the Haldi Golf County is a magnificent expanse of lush green space that features prestige high-class residential units, a five-star luxury resort and a clubhouse. Located at Toopran, Haldi Golf County is one-hour drive from Hyderabad city. The 18-hole project is spread over 250 acres, and is the only course that runs alongside a river.
Construction begins on the first Nicklaus course in Greece
Another signature course that expects to attract golfers from all over the world is the Kilada Country Club Golf & Residences. Overlooking the Mediterranean Sea in the Porto Heli area of the Peloponnese region in Southern Greece will offer stunning scenery from most positions. Set up in an exceptional natural environment, surrounded by mature olive trees and rolling hills, the par-72 course will include a five-star hotel, sport and leisure facilities, and luxury resort homes. The course is expected to open in 2022.
Mountain course in British Columbia for Cabot
If you have a soft spot for breath-taking mountain scenery, then it might be worth the wait for Cabot Pacific Golf Course. Expected to open in 2023, it will represent an 18-hole course, 150-room hotel and real estate offering in the British Columbia ski resort of Revelstoke. Known as an alpine mecca and a prime destination for heli-skiing, the resort seems to be the perfect spot for this new project. According to its developers, the site has constant contour, which isn’t too severe or too steep for golf.
Lido-inspired course in Thailand set for August 2021 opening
The Lido Club on Long Island has opened for play in 1917 but abandoned during World War II. The mythical 18-holes was considered the equal of any course on the planet and its premature demise only enhanced that reputation. In 2021, after more than 80 years, its spirit is reborn in Thailand. So, if you are eager to try a vintage design, that has never been undertaken in Thailand before, the new Ban Rakat Club will most likely bring something completely unique to the market. You must be quick though, there are only 400 memberships allowed.
Vattanac Golf Resort opens its second layout by Faldo Design in Cambodia
Cambodia certainly has a new golf destination, and you can easily become part of it. Vattanac Golf Resort has opened its East course in September 2019 and the West is planned to offer a contrast design, with narrower and more undulating fairways, water features and cultural inspired heritage. With five sets of teas, there is something for every golfer to enjoy.
Golfplan’s new nine-hole golf course in Tbilisi (Georgia) to open next year
A golf course created to cater for a large number of beginners is the new nine-hole golf course at Tabori Golf & Spa Resort in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. Created as an inclusive golf course for a nation that is relatively new to the sport, it is designed to offer different and distinct pin positions into each green complex so that different angles of approach are required.
