Our Insurers will not provide cover for any claim relating to coronavirus. The following Coronavirus Exclusion will be added to all policies:
It is understood and agreed that this insurance does not cover any loss, damage, liability, cost or expense of whatever nature directly or indirectly caused by, arising out of, contributed to by, or resulting from “COVID-19” or any mutation or variation thereof.
*Cover will apply (as per the policy wording) where your policy schedule does not contain the Coronavirus Exclusion.
For policies which do not show a “Coronavirus Exclusion” on the schedule
The following questions and answers are specific to our Sports Travel Insurance policy.
I’ve got Sports Travel Insurance with your company. What would be covered with regards to Coronavirus / COVID-19?
You would be covered for the following:
Emergency Medical Expenses & Repatriation section whilst abroad.
Maximum cover of £10 million under all levels of cover for:
- your medical treatment if you fall ill when away on a trip due to Coronavirus /COVID-19, or other medical condition.
- repatriation expenses if you miss your return flight due to medical reasons or you need to be flown home for medical reasons.

Cancellation & Curtailment section.
Cancellation of the trip – what is covered?
- Irrecoverable costs of your trip if you or any person with whom you were due to travel falls ill and is declared unfit to travel or is quarantined and is not able to travel.
Curtailment of the trip – what is covered?
- Irrecoverable costs of the proportional part of your trip if you are put into quarantine during your trip.
Activity & Race Entry Fees
Cover for proportionate loss of irrecoverable, pre-paid costs of passes, permits, entry or tuition fees or equipment hire if you are fall ill or are put in quarantine, and are unable to participate in your activity/sport.

Cover if you are forced to move from pre-booked accommodation as a result of a medical epidemic. This section provides cover for irrecoverable travel or accommodation costs necessarily incurred to continue with your trip, or if the trip cannot be continued, for your return to your place of residence.
Please note that for the above to apply, the FCO must not be advising against travel, or all but essential travel to the country(s) that you are planning to visit at time of purchase of the trip and when booking the insurance.

There would be no cover under the policy if the trip was booked or the policy was purchased after the FCO advice relating to the country(s) to which you were due to travel has changed to advise against all travel, or all but essential travel.
The event which I was planning to take part in has been cancelled. Would I be eligible to put in a claim to cancel my trip?
Unfortunately, this is not a contingency that would be covered under the policy. Many event organisers are rescheduling their events, so in that scenario, we would be happy to swap your cover to different dates for you. Please contact our sales team: email@example.com
You may also be able to claim back off your airline, accommodation provider, or Credit / Debit card provider.
The FCO advice relating to the country I am due to travel to has not changed, but I am worried about going, and would like to cancel my trip. Would I be able to claim for cancellation?
No, this would be classified as disinclination to travel, and that would not be covered. In that event, we are happy to swap the insurance to cover another trip if you chose to travel to a different destination / different dates (subject to an additional premium if the cost of insuring the new trip is greater, or a partial refund if the new premium is less). If the FCO advise against travel, or all but essential travel after I have bought the policy and booked the trip, would I be eligible to claim for cancellation of the trip?
If the FCO advise against travel, or all but essential travel, you would not be covered if you decide to go on the trip. Furthermore, it is not a contingency that is covered under the Cancellation section. We suggest that you contact all service providers such as the airlines, hotels, and tour operators to see what refunds / partial refunds you are able to get for unused travel arrangements, accommodation etc, or to see if alternatives are being offered. You may also be able to claim from ABTA / ATOL if you booked a holiday package or your credit or debit card provider. If you are planning a different trip, we are happy to swap the dates / destination of cover over to the new trip for you (subject to a partial refund if the new premium is less, or an additional premium if the cost of insuring the new trip is greater). I believe that I am eligible to claim under the policy. How do I submit a claim?
After reading the above guidance, if you have incurred costs that you have not been able to recover from other sources, that fall under a category that you believe would be covered under the policy, please contact our claims handlers to obtain a claim form.

Can I cancel my policy?
There is a 14 day Cooling Off period, so if you have not been on your trip, or made any claims under the policy during that period, you can cancel and get a full refund of your premium. Please contact our sales office: firstname.lastname@example.org to request cancellation. The premium paid will be refunded onto the card that you used to purchase the policy.
