Key Facts about VentureGuard

POLICY INFORMATION

VentureGuard provides ‘peace of mind’ to those who enjoy active pursuits. At home or abroad, you can have full accident and travel insurance to suit your individual needs - and budget.

CHOICE

Individuals or groups can choose from Single Day insurance for trips of up to 12 months away; or Annual (Multi-Trip) insurance covering any number of trips of up to 90 days each. For Winter sports some restrictions apply to the number of days participation.

ACTIVITY TOPUP

If your existing travel insurance excludes certain Sporting activities we can cover those activities through Bronze VentureGuard, which can be purchased for the period required - which doesn't have to be the whole trip.

VALUE FOR MONEY

Keep your premium to an absolute minimum. Select the sport(s) to be covered; countries to be visited; trip duration; and the level of cover required. Then, as an added benefit, once you have selected a sports group you are automatically covered for every sport in that group plus all of those sports and leisure activities that appear in lesser groups.

EXTRA BENEFITS WITH ANNUAL COVER

Take out an Annual VentureGuard. Then, as well as being covered for trips and associated sports activities during trips throughout the year, you'll have the added benefit of sports accident cover between trips. Should you wish to extend or upgrade your Annual cover for short trips to higher Sports Groups and other other Countries beyond the selected Zone we will be pleased to help.

If injury or illness should strike during an insured trip, sympathetic and comprehensive emergency help is immediately available from our 24-hour Helpline. The benefits include arranging for emergency repatriation; contacting family or friends; and organising your return if a member of your family or business partner becomes seriously ill, or the trip becomes a catastrophe. IMPORTANT FEATURES OF THE POLICY

INSURANCE SCHEDULE

Please read this document carefully as it contains the full details of what is and is not covered and the conditions of the cover. Your Schedule will be issued on receipt of the appropriate premium. Should you wish a specimen copy will be made available prior to purchase. Cover will vary from policy to policy and insurer to insurer

HEALTH

The insurance contains conditions that relate to your health and that of others not necessarily travelling with you but upon whose well being the trip may depend. In particular you must declare pre-existing medical problems and details of all medical Travel claims made in the past 3 years.

CLAIMS

You should contact the Claims Service within five days of any incident which may give rise to a claim to declare it. The Helpline must be contacted if medical costs above £500 are likely to be incurred or if repatriation is required. Claims for property loss, theft or damage must be substantiated with an original sales receipt or valuation from a third party. Loss and theft MUST be notified to the police. Damaged items must be brought back for inspection.

CLAIMS FOR PERSONAL BAGGAGE AND EQUIPMENT

The insurance does not provide cover on a ‘new for old’ basis. This means that claims will be paid on the basis of the value of your property at the time of the loss.

SUMS INSURED AND LIMITS

All sections of the insurance have a limit on the amount the Insurer will pay. Some sections have internal sub-limits such as the amount the Insurer will pay for any one item or the total amount for all valuables (including photographic equipment). You are advised to check these limits if you intend taking expensive items with you.

EXCESSES

Under most sections of the insurance, claims will be subject to an excess. This means that you will be responsible for paying part of the claim. The amount you have to pay is the excess. Where more than one excess applies (ie claims made under multiple sections) we will apply only the highest excess.

EXCESS WAIVER FOR MEDICAL CLAIMS

For Medical Claims that exceed the Monetary Excess we will waive the stated Excess when the E111 or Medicare is used to reduce the cost. Applied on a pro-rata basis for each element of the Medical claim.

REASONABLE CARE

You are required to take all reasonable care to protect yourself and your property and to act at all times as if you are not insured.

RESIDENCY WARRANTY

Each insured person must be a resident of the United Kingdom, from where Journeys start and end or must be a resident at a valid BFPO address.

‘COOLING OFF PERIOD’

In the unlikely event that, on receipt of your Certificate containing the terms and conditions, the insurance is judged to be inappropriate, your premium will be refunded in full provided that you return the Schedule within 14 days of the date of issue, or prior to travel if this is sooner, and no claim is made.

DURATION OF COVER

Cover for Cancellation is valid from the day following the date of issue of your Insurance Schedule or the date of booking the Journey - whichever is the later - until the first day of your trip. Single Day Venture Card benefits are valid for the duration of the Journey provided the cover remains valid. Annual Venture Card benefits are available from the commencement date stated on the Insurance Schedule although certain benefits are only available during a Journey. Cover is extended for up to 30 days if your trip is extended for reasons beyond your control.

JURISDICTION

The insurance will be subject to English Law unless you and the Insurer agree otherwise.

COMPLAINTS

The Insurance Schedule contains a procedure “If you have a problem” which tells you what steps to take should you wish to make a complaint.

The following are just some of the Exclusions and Definitions. Full details appear on the Insurance Schedule and Wording which will be issued.
