Pet Behaviourist Insurance
As a nation of pet lovers, with an estimated 22 million pets in the UK, there is an ever increasing demand for the skills of Pet Behaviourists - whether it be to help with obedience, aggression, barking, travel issues, nervousness or even fussy eating. Whilst this can be immensely rewarding, you should be aware of the potential risks. No matter how careful you are, there is a possibility that a member of the public or another animal could get injured by a pet in your charge, they could cause an accident, or you could lose the pet and find a claim being taken out against you or your business. By holding Pet Behaviourist Insurance, you will protect yourself and your business against potential claims. It's important for you to know that you're suitably insured, as heavy compensation payouts can have devastating results on any business. At DareDirect we specialise in bespoke Pet Behaviourist Insurance which includes, public liability and employers liability, care, custody and control insurance, and where required, cover for equipment.
So, what do you need?
Public Liability Insurance & Care, Custody and Control Insurance
Our Pet Behaviourist Insurance will protect you and your business against the financial consequences of a claim that a member of the public may make as a result of injury or damage to them or their property. All Pet Behaviourists have some interaction with the public; the law states that if you or your business cause damage to someone or their property then you will have to pay for damages. A public liability policy will cover you and your business should the worst occur. This includes instances where a pet in your control causes injury to another animal or person, or even causes damage to someone's property.
Employers Liability Insurance
If your business has employees*, it is compulsory by law to have employer's liability insurance. This will protect your company against the financial consequences of claims made by, or on behalf of an employee who has suffered injury, death or illness at work. When you take out a policy you will receive a certificate which must be displayed in an area where employees can easily read it.
*Please note that if an individual does not exclusively work for you (i.e. you use self employed Pet Behaviourists) then we will consider them to be sub-contractors, and therefore you will not be required to cover them under employer's liability, provided they have their own public liability insurance).
